Lucinda makes her pitch for the front bench as a re-shuffle looms

Lucinda Creighton is a talented and a bright member of Dáil Eireann, but her outburst (and burst-out) at the Parli party meeting is being taken out of context.

Lucinda is generating noise in an effort to get on the front bench. somehow i don't think she'll spend the next few years sulking on the backbenches a la John Deasy.

if she had a real grievance she wouldn't have got onto the newspapers about it.

Her outburst raises interesting questions. After the locals there will have to be some form of a re-shuffle.

Olivia Mitchell, Michael Creed, and Michael Ring will have to revise their ambitions downwards -- Agriculture, Tourism, and Community & Rural are too important to FG voters to have nothing being done.

There will have to be promotions for Kieran O'Donnell, Joe McHugh, Lucinda (not just because of her outburst), with Denis Naughten also likely to be brought back from the dead

I like Lucinda. Her patience will be rewarded if she rows in.

That bit could be a complete, logical and self-evident statement all by itself.

Firstly, Denis Naughten is already on the front bench.

Secondly, you obviously didn't see the Week in Politics last night. Michael Ring gave one of the best turns by an FGer on that show for a good few weeks (save for Gay Mitchell, who was excellent as ever a fortnight ago)

olivia mitchell could certainly be moved she has had a good run on the front bench and will be even older by the next election, so a new face to replace her would be welcome, but Creighton is still unproven and seems to be a bit devisive, which is a bad sign this early in her career.

Lucinda thinks that telling the media she had some kind of kiddie tantrum will put her in the running for front bench? I'd be very surprised if that's true - if it is, Enda was right to deride her comments on the FG media strategy.

    Time for a new generation

With FF falling apart, it's time that FG brought us a new ireland and a new government, not just a different version of FF. Creighton, English, Naughton and McHugh have to be given portfolios, as they are the future. Still think Kenny needs to go though. I've been saying this for months. People still don't see him as a leader and don't want him in charge. Let's bring on the young ones!
