I thought it was a fairly typical Ursula v. Enda interview. She kept hectoring and not giving time for any thoughtful comment. And the whole policy thing is a red-herring. If detailed policies came out now then the government could cherry-pick and implement the best of them now (payments for under 5's announced by FG and then appear in the budget for one). Enda's mistake was to try and play the game by her rules. He should just have said that policy one-liners are created by spin doctors, reforms are completed by patience and thought. If she wants the one-liner, bumper sticker approach get Martin Cullen.

Yes she was relentless in fairness. But Enda was not to sharp either.

That's a rather telling comment. FG don't want the government to implement good policies because it might harm their political ambitions. So much for having the best interests of the country at heart.

In a week which saw yet another split in the rainbow (Labour voting in favour of SF's motion to create a standalone Department of Labour Affairs; Fine Gael verbally opposing it and then going missing for the vote) I think it's a pity Ursula didn't challenge Enda more on what exactly this coalition would do in power.

With respect, that's b*ll*x. Why do FG have to be the only party who only consider the national interest, while everyone else seeks to maximise their electoral strength and win power?

(Anyway, it could be argued that getting FF out of power is overwhelmingly in the national interest, and that anything which helps that goal is justified . )

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.
