Lucinda Creighton gets done for speeding: Herald

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Yet more criminiality among the political classes.

Nailed for doing 79km in a 60km zone. Who does she think she is? Bertie Ahern!

And one of the reasons she gave for not paying the fine is that it came during the campaign for the Lisbon Treaty!!

So in old money terms, she was doing 50 in a 40 zone. Shock horror.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Be it old money or new money she failed to pay the fine.

I was caught doing 80kph in a 50kph zone last year. Didn't even notice it. Was told I'd get two penalty points and haven't heard a word about it since.

This doesn't really compare with Jim McDaid, who did 100kph down the wrong side of the M7, almost murdering scores of people.

Or Billy Kelleher, who was clocked doing 160kph on the Cashel bypass a couple of years ago

If ever there was proof that FG are no different to FF in terms of Gombeenism, it's this thread. Sure FFers did it so it's alright. Typical.

She paid the fine but was a week late in doing so, hence it ended up in court. And this happened on the "Naas rd" that wouldn't be the Naas dual carriageway where limits bob up and down all over the place? Given the speed involved the defence offered that she thought that she was in the higher limit of 80km sounds perfectly reasonable.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

FFS, big difference between this and running over a nurse when drunk or being drunk driving down the wrong side of a dual carriageway, or taking bribes and calling them digouts.

Ya I was about to draw attention to McDaid's faux pas myself, speeding through a 50km - no one really gives a toss about crap like this
