Why won't FG do Something about Enda's Woeful TV Performance

I'm not a member of Fine Gael, but I vote for them here in Mayo for two reasons. The only other real alternative is Fianna Fail and I cannot abide them and the other reason is I have gotten to know Enda Kenny here in Castlebar and he is the total opposite to what one sees and hears from him on the box and in the Dail Chamber.

He has a great personality, a lovely smile, is a mesmerising conversationalist and debater, but only when he is among his own people.

I don't know the man well enough but if he was mine, and I mean like his secretary, I'd bash him out to one of those companies that train you for public appearances and speaking.

I was never behind the door in telling my own TD what to wear and what to say and to roar at him if he made a balls of anything. So are there any takers in FG who will take the chance and let the rest of the country see the real Enda Kenny. They will love him. Guaranteed.

He definitely needs to come across better, but it's not as if he's up against a charismatic opponent in Brian Cowen next time is it?

Mayo is without a doubt the most backward constituency in Ireland. When out of 5 seats, 3 of them go to FG then you really have to wonder about the consciousness of the people there. There is definitely a lack of industrial and economic education amongst the peasant farmers.

Go f*ck yourself, you ignorant moron.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

    Wow, so insightful.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

i think part of his problem is that he did go to one of those image consultants. He puts on this fake gravitas and qualifies what he says about 3 times 'i want to say this, having consulted with my front bench, the Fine gael parliamentary party and the wider community, and we are of the one mind that is a matter of the utmost importance to the people, those in employment and the unlucky ones who have not fared as well in what is a difficult time for them and their family, through no fault of their own but by reason of the failure, incompetence and indifference of the government, the fianna fail party and the taoiseach, and what i want to say is as follows...' (not an actual quote).

He suffers from the same linguistic flaw as cowen -he speaks to the people in a politically institutionalised manner.

He doens't need PR people, he just needs to take better care of how he presents himself, I'm of the firm opinion PR people just make a balls of candidates and make things worse.
I remember in the 04 elections some PR guru had the bright idea for a photo op with Liz O'Donnel, and two candidates with her washing their feet in a big basen with a sponge, it was...bizzare, and you could see she was forcing a smile, realizing just how bizzare it was...
