Please tell me it's a joke

Did anyone see the letter in the Times today? The writer claims to be a member of Fine Gael, but as he holds such off the wall views, I'm hoping it's a joke.

    letter in Irish Times

I find it painful indeed that despite 10 years of steady progress in Ulster, he still suffers from the myopic conception of unity by majority consent.
Majority consent, or democracy as it's also known, is a central tenant of the Good Friday Agreement.

Was it by reviving the offensive military victory parade commemorating the "blood sacrifice" of 1916?
Why would anyone in Fine Gael have a problem with commemorating an event that many of its founders participated in?

Will we ever see the memorials to Lord Nelson and King William back on the streets of Dublin again?
    What!?

RONAN GUCKIAN, (Fine Gael, Mount Merrion Branch),
    Is this a joke?

Hopefully it is, but I don't think so. There is a significant loonie element in that party.

I would consider this to be a part on the recent and growing rumblings from within Unionism and Partitionism against the idea of 50+ 1 as it becomes obvious that this number will be reached sooner rather than later.

I suspect it is a spoof. The reference to "Ulster" is not one a southern Irishman would make.

Having said that, I know a few presbyterian FG members in north Monaghan whose views would make that letter sound mild in comparison.

I doubt this is a joke really. What would Michael Collins make of it all?
