Is Richard Bruton the real leader of FG?

FGers constantly refer to Bruton when discussing their party put try to distance themselves from Kenny. Is the FG leader considered some sort of embarassment the party are now trying to hide from the public? I can never see FG winning any election with Enda Kenny at the helm. During the whole Lisbon debacle he did more harm than good for the Yes side. Even Mary Lou was able to nail him. Now I have no time for FG or any pro-capitalist party but it really does suprise me there hasn't been a leadership challenge of late. Kenny is a lame duck.

They are hardly likely to change horses when they are galloping ahead. But i agree, bruton would be more likely to win an election than poor enda.

At present, all the issues being discussed are economic, Bruton is far and away the best one to deal with the issues, it would be daft for Kenny to hog the limelight, even if he were that way inclined. We do not have a presidential system despite the Ahern years and the lack of talent on the govt. side is being shown. Labour are in the same position, Joan Burton can speak clearly & logically about our problems, whether you agree with her solutions or not, Gilmore takes a back seat to her, despite his natural inclinations.

This is obvious to everyone, even the most blinkered FG supporters. I think EK will bow out gracefully after the locals and euros next year, saying that he has taken the party as far as he can and with that Bruton will take over.

FG should seriously considered bringing back Gay Mitchell into domestic politics (perhaps using the DS bi-election) as they front bench is seriously lacking any heavy hitters.
A little lesson on geographic and political terms for dummies :

That just shows how utterly blinkered you are. You used that line before the last election when it had some validity, but since then the front bench has been added to by Flanagan, Reilly (who's killing Harney on Health), Hayes (who virtually singlehandedly got Hanafin demoted), Varadkar and Shatter - all of whom are making a big impact.

All above may be true Hiding.. but from a non partisan person, which I am.. FG would be much better off without Enda at the helm...

He has been a fantastic leader of FG... but he's now the difference between possibly winning the next election, and winning it well as far as swing voters are concerned

Why not make one of them leader. Certainly better than Enda (I wish I wear a real boy) and his pointy finger
