Leo Varadkar's proposals on voluntary repatriation and Richard Bruton's plans for public-sector reform are encouraging steps in the right direction. If they were to embrace private hospitals and schools that would make it more credible to the Irish people that they will not allow themselves to to be pushed around by Labour like in the 1982-7 govt.
