FG - Why should foreigners (Norides) meet Sarkozy?

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/let ... 40366.html

Madam, - Barry Walsh (Letters July 24th) claims that it was bizarre that Sinn Féin sent Gerry Adams and Bairbre De Brún to meet President Sarkozy on his recent whirlwind tour of Dublin.

Barry, as some of your readers may know, is the president of Young Fine Gael (YFG) and responsible for the Lisbon posters which some people considered to be almost pornographic that YFG produced during the Lisbon referendum campaign. Now those posters were truly bizarre.

Gerry Adams is the leader of Sinn Féin, a party which, as any unbiased observer will tell you, was a key element in mobilising many thousands of people to come out and vote No. Bairbre De Brún, as a member of the European Parliament, was an excellent choice to represent Sinn Féin at the meeting with Sarkozy. Barry complains that they are both members of a foreign parliament, whatever that may mean. What Mr Walsh is clearly implying, however, is that they are "foreigners" and if so maybe someone from the grown-up section of Fine Gael can explain what he means? - Yours, etc,

SF represented the NO vote, FG didnt.
Why should FG meet Sarkozy?, surely Sarkozy would be interested in hearing from the party that supported the majority of the Lisbon vote?
Abstinence makes the Church grow fondlers.

What should have been pointed out to Barry in that letter is that he was incorrect to state that Bairbre is a member of the Westminster. She is not. She is an MEP.

Underlines the partitionist mindset of FG which has always regarded NI Nationalists as 'foreigners'.

As an admirer of most things FG, I have to say this is one of the dumbest statements ever made. He should apologise or at least get a slap off Enda. "United Ireladn Party" my hole
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

No it isn't. It's a part of this country, currently occupied by a foreign state.

The elections were run by the occupiers (as you call them) so you have to agree then that she represents a foreign state.

I don't have to agree with anything. The elections were run under the auspices of the European Union, to election to the European Parliament at Brussels and Strasbourg. Your point is..? Oh, yeah. Pointless trolling. Well done.
