600% rise in young fine gael membership

i saw this in one of the newspapers the other day and looked it up on the fine gael website again this morning

Membership of Young Fine Gael has increased by more than 600% in the last three years with the organisation now enjoying record numbers

Young Fine Gael has seen its membership rocket from 556 in 2002, to its current level of 3,494
These numbers are staggering- even in light of the growth in the overall fine gael membership since kenny took over.

How in the name of provence have they managed to recruit so many people? The site says there is another recruitment drive coming up. will it rise even further?

    Yeah it will.

Alot of the resurgence has come from the opening up college branches in the smaller insts (such as Letterkenny IT & Griffith) as well as setting up as many non-college branches as possible (7 in Dublin last year alone)., thus allowing people not in college to pitch in.

Also more & more people u30 are signing up as YFG members instead of Fine Gael members, as a member of yfg is automatically a member of Fine Gael but NOT vice versa

And the increase in young candidates and younger people elected, and conventions would have helped a bit too.

Truth is opposition parties to tired governments always have an easier (not necessarily easy) time of it recruiting.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.
