    FG cash for questions scandal

According to The Sunday Business Post Fine Gael TD Jim O'Keeffe has been asking repeated questions for a firm that he has been receiving substantial dontations from:

Three cheques received by Fine Gael TD Jim O’Keeffe from associated companies of property developers Treasury Holdings were delivered in the same envelope.
O’Keeffe was told by the Standards in Public Office Commission that he could not accept a fourth cheque, also in the same envelope, as it was from a subsidiary of Treasury. All the cheques were for the sum of €2,500, made by associated companies of Treasury before last year’s general election.
The property development firm has refused to comment on the political donations. In 2005,O’Keeffe asked a number of parliamentary questions about a massive state contract which was subsequently awarded to Treasury.
Looks like 'cash for questions' to me...

It'd be interesting if it wasn't for the fact that Treasury have had FF in their pockets for over a decade.

maybe FF should allow the Greens to attack on this one.
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

Is it that Jim O'Keffe got €7,500 form a company he was lobbying for state contracts?

Any link to the dail debate where O'Keefe asked these questions? Been doing a search on the oireactas website but can't find anything. (At least nothing returned searching "O'keefe"+"Treasury Holdings". Perhaps the company's name was not actually mentioned?)

Any idea when the debate took place?

Treasury would be fools to pay for questions. Most TDs will do it for free.

Shoud there be a law that preculudes a TD from asking a question that may in some way impact on a donor? Pretty difficult to police I would have thought.

According to the paper, he got the money "completely unsolicited" .. he was sent three different payments from companies controlled by Treasury.. he kept two, and on realising that the third was another Treasury subsidiary, he sent the money back

Personally, I wouldn't say there is a lot in this
1,197 people agree with me.. how many agree with you ?
