The only thing she has going for is the female factor to allow her play on the first female leader angle , any male minister who has performed as poorly as her would not stand a chance, especially given the crisis in her department now with the guards.
She should not stand a chance either but PC stuff is huge these days and can take a mediocre performer like her very far.
As for the op , what risks , visions etc has she ever shown?
But given that FG picked someone like Kenny as leader , talent is obviously not a requirement.
As VB has joked(kind of) a few times , that if she keeps messing up like this she will certainly become FG leader.
Hopefully she will meet the fate of Shatter and be forced out of office by this eternal Garda whistleblower scandal. Her hardline prohibitionist views on prostitution constitute an intrustive legislative imposition of the private lives of Irish citizens. Its old wine (conservative Catholicism) in new bottles (Second Wave Feminism).
She has failed to reverse the closure of Garda stations. The govts claim that crime didnt increase particularly where Garda stations were closed is undermines by the revelations the statistics were watered down by someone (see thejournal.ie a few weeks back).
Blueshirts considering her should remember the disasterous experience of FF with a managed succession from Bertie to Cowen. The Tory coronation of Michael Howard in 2001 likewise.
