"People who vote for Fianna Fail are idiots"

This particular piece of childish insult is thrown around quite a lot by FGers and other people who don't like Fianna Fail. Hank Tree and the OD have been up to this recently.

So what's wrong lads? Can't stand the fact that more people support Fianna Fail? Do you really think that calling your opponents 'idiots' is going to (a) win you any respect or (b) convert people to your cause? And how precisely, are FF voters to be considered idiots when there is little that differentiates FG from FF these days? Does that mean that FG voters are also idiots?

The difference is in performance. FF have repeatedly slithered around avoiding doing any real or decent governing.

FG have yet to have the opportunity to slither around avoiding doing any real or decent governing.

One of the definitions of madness is you keep doing the same thing but you expect different results, so you could say that almost half the country are mad not idiots.

Not really. I suppose some smart arse will be along to say that my fault or your fault for not starting it.
I tried doing it but sniping, personal vendettas and petty political point scoring tend to more popular so I gave up quite quickly.

I think the point that is being made is that FF have shown more of the same crap governance as they did before the election and therefore those who voted them back in are idiots for so doing.

Before the election I advocated change, not for change sake but to send a message to FF that we wanted something different, namely, government for the people and not self service for the politicians, which is what we were getting and as sure as hell are getting now.

Alas, the idiots voted FF back, and FF are serving themselves hand over fist. The recent days events have proven that.

On an unconnected note but related to the issue of the site's usage. I really wish that people would stop using acronyms - quite simply and selfishly because it takes me ages to work out what they are and I end up looking them up on Google! IIRC was my unknown acronym of the day.

Personal threads are not right. Issues must argue, not people.
