Fine Gael Deputy claims Labour TDs are showboating

Recently elected TD, Jim Daly, for Cork South West claimed on The Week in Politics that the recent resignations from the Labour Party's Parliamentary Party were little more than exercises in showboating. Of course, the former Mayor of Cork County Council, wouldn't know anything about that as he was to busy working hard for his constituents.

Cork Fine Gael TD Jim Daly was the highest-paid councillor in the country in 2010, earning more than €67,900 before tax. This included a €16,683 salary, an allowance of €30,470 for his term as mayor of Cork County Council from June 2010 to March 2011, and just less than €4,500 for conferences.

The longer it goes on the greater the division. I'd expect 18 months

There needs to be a huge clampdown on all these locals clowns who become mayors. They are just gobsh1te local councillors who rotate the chain between them as a result of behind closed closed argeements. When Michael Crowe was mayor of Galway he managed to clean up about €80,000 in salary, expenses and allowances while working full time as an auctioneer. What he actually did for that €80k I haven't a clue.

Totally agree. Daly was plastered all over the local media last year and it's the only reason he got elected!! The man is a very wooden character, no personality.

Wishful thinking thetruthsback. What's the alternative?
Why did Minister Phil Hogan drop the independent review into planning irregularities within Dublin and Cork city councils and Carlow, Meath, Galway and Cork county councils ?

The alternative is interesting, yes. FG to try and go it alone or to seek support from FF to prop up the government. No way to that. For me, the alternative is simple FF and SF posy 2014, new mandate
