Prefect summation of FG/FF/LP. Compare & contrast with Iceland.

Hopefully the long-suFFering ppl will see through them:

To all who believed they were voting for change? (" You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time") Except the private irish sector that is!

This Goverement in my opinion has got off to a poor start. They are not bringing the population with them, a lot of this is due to kite flying and badly judged cuts. There is a lot of upset after budget 2011. In my opinion they will not survive budgets 2011 --2014. The austerity has only begun.
Your last sentence right on, but I would add that we've seen nothing yet!

What an intelligent, considered, articulate response. Your overpaid, over-rated obnoxious oafs won't have to live with the effects of the cuts.

Leadership is required. While I am of the view we should burn the bondholders and tell the EU where to get off I do understand that it is a hard step to take and do not believe there is any party who would actually go that far including the very quiet Sinn Fein, Socialist Party and others.
However there needs to be leadership. What this means to me is that they are not seen to be paying over the rate they have agreed to anyone even if it was Bill Gates himself, that they immediately get rid of all their allowances and survive on their wages, the mileage and subsistence allowance could be given up on a temporary basis to be reviewed as obviously people from the country have higher expenses. All TDs to be required to attend when the dail sits and their pay is cut if they are not their only exceptions if there are EU meetings that they have to attend. They are told that they are not allowed attend local funerals or other stuff or their pay is docked, they provide sick certs and have same sick scheme as everyone else in public service, they get the same pension scheme ie if they are a td for 5 years that is banked until they are 60, if they were a teacher of public servant before they would be combined, no two pensions, only get when 6, no separate ministers pension etc. People under 60 getting pensions have them taken back if they are working. Basically get the trust of the people back, if we are int he dire straights they say we are they would be doing this without being told to do so. Once you hve done that call in the high earning semi state people and public servants and deal with them.

You seriously think there's a chance of FG/FF/LP doing that? After wasting valuable political capital to get overpaid jobs for their cronies here & in the EU?

No they didn't, they're broadly doing what they said they'd do.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

It's going to be a drip-drip process over the next few years, and that is utter stupidity. People are willing to take the pain if it's fair, but not when they see some of the stupidity that the Government has come out with over the last 6 months especially.
I am willing to take the pain, but not the unfairness of some of the new taxes, and I am angry that Kenny is submitting requests for 1,000 a month with no documentation and pushing through huge raises for his buddies. he had such a wonderful chance to do it right and has totally screwed up.
