    Colm Burke Co-option (MEP)

Since Colm Burke will get Coveney's seat in the EP, will he give up his seat in Cork City Council and make way for someone new?

And who would be in the running....

Joe O'Callaghan (is he smart enough?)
keep it in the family - Colm's neice

Or does Colm have someone from the backroom team lined up?

I suppose it all depends on where the votes at convention are. As usual at convention you get a variety of people running for different reasons. Of course Colm doesn't have to give up his Council seat.

It makes for interesting times here in CNC, across the divide in CSC and down in CSW. Paddy's son is tipped for his seat and a member of the Clune camp for her seat.

FG will have new faces in the NW ward, the SE ward in 2009 regardless of what happens and depending on what Jim and Dino decide we could have additional new names running there as well. Will Connolly run alongside Darra Murphy again in the NE ward?

Colm's convention could be an opportunity to put someone new and fresh into the race and give that peron a real chance of retaining the seat in 2009.

Just when you thought things had clamed down after the election they get exciting again.

I never thought about that. She was actually in my class as college. Although I suppose being in college with a Cork City Councillor is not exactly a matter of major bragging rights. I think she is staying working with him though.

With a name like Ramsbottom, do you really want to put yourself in the spotlight?

Simon Coveney is a fu cking joke.

He's like some sort of bauble that FG move from one election to the next to ensure they win seats.

    Does he actually do anything?

He reminds me of that body double for the US President in the movie 'Dave'.

FG just push him out of the car, tell him to wave and look handsome and then its off to the next election.
The only way to change the world is to win elections.

He's a lightweight alright who has benefitted from very soft media attention. But.......if Joe O'Callaghan goes on the council, then you'll view even Ivor Callelly as someone akin to Noam Chomsky
