Councillor Terence Slowey has been expelled from Fine Gael.

Highland Radio News has learned that Councillor Terence Slowey has been expelled from Fine Gael.

The decision was made by Party HQ today and follows the councillors appearance before The Standards in Public Office Commission which found he acted recklessly in making a double expenses claim.

In a statement released to Highland Radio News this evening, Fine Gael said a Disciplinary Committee concluded that he had acted in a manner seriously damaging to the interest of the Party and determined that he be expelled.

An appeal of the decision by Councillor Slowey will be heard on May 14th

harsh, i think, kinda think this isn't so out of the ordinary for fine gael that he should thrown out for it. prefer to see fine gale take ownership of it and punish him in some other way,

Give him a few months and he'll be allowed back once it's all died down.

I think I remember reading that he had refunded the money although am not certain. I still support his expulsion as he knew the rules/the rules were available to him and one wonders whether if his attention had not been drawn to the matter would the money have been paid back?

I don't think the misuse of public funds should be tolerated.

Rightfully, he should be prosecuted for seeking to misappropriate funds.
