FG site hacked in seconds - default passwords unchanged. Hacked for not buying Irish.

In a piece in today's Evening Herald, Kevin Doyle writes with further detail that's arisen out of the hacking incident on the Fine Gael website on Sunday night.

The hackers have told the Herald that they're not "professional" hackers despite the claims by Fine Gael.

In an email exchange with Doyle, the hackers say they've already destroyed the data they obtained from the site, claim it wasn't a "professional" hack - as the FG administrator didn't change the default passwords. They also told Doyle the site was "incredibly insecure" and have issued a warning to Fine Gael to "buy Irish next time".

"Seriously, Ireland is full of talented web designers and website admins who know how to secure web pages properly. Support the local economy next time".

As I understand it, none of the major political parties have their sites hosted in Ireland. It's a bit odd that this has been so used against Fine Gael.

What Irish companies can provide a service identical, and cheaper, to electionmall, the company FG are currently using?

ElectionMall, On Demand Campaign Election Software, Campaign Cloud for candidates, politicians, PACs, parties & organizations

    THIS

and they'd have someone to call immediately to fix the problem. For a party with aspirations of leading the country to have a holding page for a website within 2 months of a general election is farcical.

The whole thing has been another PR disaster for Fine Gael.

Wow aren't FG so useless? I mean firstly Enda Kenny told a joke eight years ago and now this, some people hacked their website. Yup, Irish politics, aren't we all such cute hoors, sure lets just keep FF there throw up a few more houses. 'Politics' i.e.
