    What is Fine Gael

What is the ideology of FG? They used to be broadly of conservative right, a large majority of their voters and most of their members would also broadly identify, but yet they attract so many unreconstructed socialists. Why?

Check the website. Another pointless thread. Joy

Look the PDs are in for a serious kicking, and people who are going to not vote for you guys aren't all on p.ie

Start all the threads you want. It looks at this point as if Frank McNamara could be your sole TD. Dessie doesn't deserve that

Whereas the PDs are just afraid of Bertie's money trail and the voters . . .

Here, here. The website only tells you what they perceive FF/PD have been doing wrong all these years. Are they Christian Democrat? Are they Right Wing? Are they Liberal? Are they the Big Farmers party? But from the point of view of a young fine gaeler like yourself, what are the approaches fine gael takes to politics that appeal to you?

We in FG stand for equality of opportunity, personal responsiblity, entreprise and reward, rule of law and civic virtue...

...if you believe in these principles then join Fine Gael, all are welcome...

Unless you are Michael McDowell. We'll let the Shinners have him.

I perfectly accept that's what FG members believe their party to stand for and what members actually stand for themselves. But does anyone think any of that will wash with Pat Rabbitte? Entreprise and reward?

Thank you for a civil answer Father, but with all due respect how does that differ from FF, PDs and even labour. Your answer reminded me of when Tony Blair said Britons should embrace the British values of tolerance and equality. Tolerace and equality are not British qualities, they are human qualities. Similarly equality of opportunity, personal responsiblity, entreprise and reward, rule of law and civic virtue do not differentiate FG from the other four serious parties.

Although I am a repeat offender myself, I do not like the needle which has developed between the Rainbow and the govt. This is supposed to be a forum of civil political discussion. Vicious little sniping belongs on Bebo.
