I must say that I have absolutely no intention of transfering my vote to any green candidate. They are a dangerous presence in Irish politics, determined on inflicting urban expectations on rural Ireland, and destroying the beautiful fabric of traditional Irish life. Adverse to our farming market, I don't want them in any Fine Gael government!

And hats off to Enda, a brave move in a way, but one that might aleviate a few of the concerns of FG's rural voters. FG have a preference from me at least

If FF/PD choose to run an attack ad on the rainbow they could just point to some of the Green policies such as the ban on live exports. Enda should have let things be and play it by constituency. People who would be amenable to the Greens in FG would have known to transfer to them anyway. This pronouncement was unnecessary.
Oh for God's sake not this hackneyed rubbish again!

For the umpteenth time, can we please reiterate GP policy on live exports:

Some political figures like to make claims that we would end live animal exports. That is, quite simply, a lie. Let me be quite clear: the Green Party accepts that live exports are a way to force factories to pay a more reasonable price. In order to increase the dividend for farmers, we want more abattoirs and value-added production to further help farmers.

Anyone else not got this through their thick skulls yet? Would you like to hear it again? Perhaps a billboard with 16 foot letters outside your house maybe? Or having it repeated on loadspeakers over and over again?

Fair play to Enda by the way.[/quote:l9zqlqyr]
Yes, that's all well and good. But I still don't agree with the Green-proposed ban on live exports.

Pidge, not you too!!! We repealed that proposal, it is no more, it is finito, it is gone, it is history! See herefor more details

    Live Exports
The Green Party does not promote or encourage live exports of animals. However, it does understand that if there were no live exports at present, the meat factories would have a monopoly on the meat trade in Ireland and the prices paid to the farmer would drop considerably. Until a viable alternative can be offered, the Green Party will seek to reduce the dominance of the large meat factories and supermarkets and lobby for the humane transport of animals at home and abroad while seeking to phase out live exports over time. The Party will promote local abattoirs and value-added meat processing to minimise live animal transportation.

How do people usually vote in terms of transfers? I mean there must be records about it. Do most people sc. split their ticket and transfer to other parties or do they mostly just put the candidates of their own party in the order of preference? Probably most of those voters who don`t vote FF/FG as the first preference carry out the "less evil" tactics by giving a second or third preference to either of the main parties which they consider less loathsome than the other.
