    Illegal Fine Gael posters?

From where I'm studying in NUIG I can see a large FG poster condeming the government on college registration fees. Below is a rectangular white box which on the left states 'If you want change, Vote' and on the right it has the Fine Gael logo. Quite cleverly done so from a distance it reads 'Vote Fine Gael'.

Does anyone know the exact law governing political posters in campuses? Whatever clever design FG have used, this is clearly a 'Vote FG poster'. But is this illegal? Has anyone else seen them and it is a case that each college sets its own guidelines?

I think 'traditional' election posters [i.e. candidates faces and 'Vote No 1'] are illegal. But what about outside the 3 week campaigns and ones that are more subtle?

    Don't bother complaining.

Sinn Fein is the only party in South Tipperary not breaking postering and littering laws in relation to this election so far

In Wexford, Sinn Fein have been littering the streets with posters for the past six months - their latest is a pic of their candidate alongside James Connolly!

Ah, give them a break; it took them ages to get him to pose for that shot...

SF are the worst party in the country for breaking the littering laws. They have posters all over Ros-South Leitrim. You just can't criticise them because SF love being the Bad Boys.

    Here is the relevant law

All posters in public places are illegal, unless:

they relate to a public meeting
you have the permission of the site owner
the poster relates to an election (what election?)

There seems to be a belief on the part of SF that posters are legal if they don't relate to an election.

    Read the section.
The only way to change the world is to win elections.

I was simply giving the situation as it is in Tipperary South.

So far, we are the only candidate, who is not breaking litter laws with regard to postering.

I don't think University campuses are deemed public property so I think they might be exempt, also if they are put up by a college society (presumably NUIG YFG) & approved by the SU/Societies office then it's ok

Well it's private property so the only regulations governing this would be internal NUIG ones I'd imagine. In Trinity one could put up any poster once it related to a society and was within college rules. Therefore general YFG or FG ones were not allowed unless Trinity YFG was printed or otherwise written on them
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.

Furthermore, the poster would have to be advertising an event. It could not just be a general 'FG are great' one.
The standard of excellence is an infinite suggestiveness, naturalism is the one thing to be condemned.

There's no mention of YFG and doesn't specify a date for anything.
Some people are stopping and taking note so I'm sure it will be good for a few votes.
