Fine Gael stamp duty policy on Q&A

It would seem Fine Gael are set to ditch their own Stamp Duty policy only weeks after it was announced!

On Q&A this evening their General Election Candidate in Dublin North East, Brody Sweeney indicated a new "joint policy" with Labour was "at the printers" and that it would be announce this Thursday. This was followed up by Labour's Cllr Alex White who said his party would be supporting an immediate chance to the policy as opposed to Fine Gael's reckless 3-year incremental plan... what a climb-down!

Sweeney never said that Maximus, he said that he didn’t even know what the policy was and White said the same thing. Stop lying Maximus.

At least we will know the FG and Labour policy is this week.

From what O'Callaghan said, it appears that FF intend to announce their policy a few days before the election!

Obviously, they do not want people to get the chance to scrutinise it too carefully before the voting.

This thread shot be immediately locked. As long as the promised provisions are implemented then it's not a climb down. A change in time-span does not entail a climb down. Don't be a p****.

Fine Gael Stamp Duty Plan Dead In The Water

Did you actually watch the program? Sweeney refused to defend his own party's policy on Stamp Duty when it was directly put to him by Bowman. White clearly indicated what Labour's preference was.

The 3-year plan is dead in the water, only a fool would have missed that.

Ok and when did he say 'FG to ditch stamp duty plans?'

Only a fool would put the spin on it that you have been putting out. Does FF pay you to spend your time on this site spinning for them?

I did indeed. Sweeney said the joint policy had been agreed upon, but that he didn't know what it was. He didn't say anything like FG had ditched their policy in either direction.

I don’t know if the three year plan is ditched or not and neither do you. According to Sweeney he doesn’t know what the policy is and there’s nothing to suggest that any of this is incorrect.

Maximus is incorrect. Neither Brody Sweeney or Alex White is aware of the joint proposals. FF is adopting a laisse -faire approach. Meanwhile the economy floats Titanic like on a property bubble which is about to burst.
