    I suggest that your flight going over was more expensive because it was more in demand. That's certainly why ryanair pushed up the fair. You can't expect an airline to get to be able to depart from Dublin airport for the same price as Grenoble airport.
    I was booking a flight to England last week - east midlands. Two flights per day over and back, but only 1 per day had a tax. Strange.

    Agree. Tourism operators getting a rough edal and the volcano ain't making it easier. A silly tax and a good time to get rid of it and save face.

    More CO2 emitted by one volcano than 15 years of human industry.
