    Indeed, but any lectures from FFers on PR stunting and gimmickry should be taken with a pinch of salt.

    I think YFG might not understand the advantages of a list system.

    In Switzerland, they don't just have a single party list in the elections. They have multiple party lists. There is the vanilla one, the women's one, the youth one and the "miscellaneous" list. All from the same party, so the voters do get a choice.

    We could easily adopt the same system here. We could have all of the above lists plus the honest list, the dodgy list, the ethical list, the appeared-at-a-tribunal one and so on.

    Switzerland is the country that's nearest to a true democracy.
    Ours here in Ireland is sham democracy,rubber stamped by the Dail...
