    RTE and Fianna Fail

Looking at RTE reeling in the years last evening I saw a depiction of the ministere for Hardhip and Richie Ruin during oil crisis of 1976. I wonder would RTE get away or bother doing this now with FF trying to fix finances which they ruined. Oh no they would not.
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

I must add that RTE probably remember Gerry Collins sacking RTE authority and jailing Kevin O Kelly, and Rambo Burke targetted RTE for losing election of 1989. And do you remember RTE doing a series on hep c pilloring Michael Noonan just months before election of May 2002. Bet they would not try same with FF, Lenihan is their hero.

Funny how Frank Hall never did a parody of Lynch, Haughey and Martin O'Donoghue blowing up the economy in 1977..could it be that once Fianna Fáil were back in power there was no need for anti-government satire anymore

That was exactly it. Frank Hall was notorious as a FF supporter, and Hall's Pictorial Weekly which was very popular at the time were particularly savage on the Coalition Government. After FF regained power in 1977, Frank Hall was rewarded with the plum job of film censor.

I mean let's be honest, FF managed to have Bull Island pulled, and you couldn't even have considered that to be in any way cutting.

I see on his wiki page that he banned Monty Pythons "Life Of Brian"

I think his son Dom Hall was also a top advisor to FF and Jack Lynch. And what about Frankie Byrne, agony aunt, she was in Frank Hall's repertoire also

The Life of Brian was banned for full frontal nudity, not because it was blasphemous (which it wasn't). From the beginning of the film they make it clear that it is a satire on mob mentality and not on religion (even though some believe them to be the same)

As for RTE, I am reminded of a soccer managers quote: I am not going to risk a fine slagging off those idiots

Nudity my ahem. I don't think women in love was banned, but I might be wrong. Either way those men needed to be naked. And it wasn't gay, no it was just two men exploring the strength of each other's body.

Anyway The Meaning of Life was banned only back in 1983 and lifted in 1990 but that went straight for the jugular:
