I think Hall's pictorial weekly was dropped just after the June 1977 election and return of FF to power. Can we expect RTE to start up a new series shortly on how Cowen and Lenihan rescued us from Bertie, McCreevy and Cowen (same man) a new form of El Tigra Celta. Miriam O Callaghan and Steve Carson would be good anchorpersons for such a program.
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.
And does anyone remember the Late Late Show on the Friday before the 2007 election with Harris and Waters on extolling the virtue of Bertie. Harris of course was made a senator for his efforts. Maybe he will rotate Green style with Waters before his term ends ?

Back in the 80s RTE were continuously being accused by FF of being in the hands of the Workers Party .We had a very unusual scene in the late 80s after the much praised McSharry/Haughey programme for recovery when the most savage of cutbacks caused the severest of hardship to the most vulnerable of our society. We were reliably informed that this was the only way to solve our economic problems and most people went along with it. Due to the rapidly increasing world economic pick up we saw the start to a recovery within a year and the media went into overdrive praising FF for the miraculous turn around. Rte did a Today/ Tonight (or Seven Days ,I forget which)) programme lavishing praise on FF and I still remember the last scene which showed an Aer Lingus jet taking off and rising into the sky to the strains of uplifting music i.e. the Irish economy rising up and up.It was like a FF election broadcast. The following day, Alan Dukes(leader of FG.then) made a complaint to RTE over the blatant FF propaganda in the programme but received short shrift for his pains. Rte seemed to be down on all fours to Haughey and FF at that time.
Two points need to be made as a follow up to that story. Firstly, after the Workers Party pulled support from FF shortly afterwards,Haughey went very confidently to the country expecting to be hailed as a hero for saving the economy and looking forward to a Jack Lynch type landslide but strangely RTE decide to focus on the cutbacks (cue Ray Burke storming out of RTE buildings threatening savage revenge on RTE journalists).FF made little or no gains and were forced to go into coalition with the PDs for the first time. The second point is that just like now we were told then that the wealthy in society were completely over taxed and that Ireland just did not possess the wealth to maintain the pittance that the old and the deprived were receiving in welfare payments ...hence the cutbacks.In the early 90s we had the first of the tax amnesties and we were shocked at the criminality being perpetrated by the self employed,ranchers,the professionals and the wealthy. There was always massive wealth in this country just as now but no political will to tax fairly or gaol criminal acts. In the mid 90s we began to hear of the criminal schemes for tax dodging,off shore accounts etc etc. Nothing has really changed.

Yes I remember that well. And they also said the material in the new FF cabinet was not as good as in the Colation one. Now they had Lynch, Haughey, O Malley, smirker Collins and many more if they wanted. But Hall got a film censor job from FF. And his son Dom worked for FF. And this man Frank, banned several films on grounds of morality, while having an affair and a love child with late Frankie Byrne.
