To register a .ie, the registrant has to prove that they are entitled to the domain whether as a business name or a personal name used in business.

Aha! So you're not the tenor, you're the (previously) sworn enemy of the IEDR! Why did you give up on the crusade - time was when you'd have been berating them in Cyberspace for still (on 9th February, 2010) advising the public of their 2009 Christmas holiday arrangements - IE Domain Registry.
Surely jmcc hasn't mellowed? - the questionable IEDR/UCD cronyism still hasn't changed!!!!!

Well I don't sing and IEDR has changed a lot over the years. It is no longer the IEDR that it once was.

Why did you give up on the crusade
Things change, people change and organisations change. Ministerial intervention and ComReg taking over penultimate control of IEDR (the only higher authority being the Minister) was a major factor. The cost of .ie domains has also fallen from the ridiculously high price ten years ago to a more accessible price today. There has also been a relaxation of the registration rules in the last ten years.
