I also note that FG did their best to join the old auction politics themselves. How much would the proposals in your 2002 and 2007 manifestos cost again? Not to mention Richard Bruton's little policy of abolishing stamp duty at the height of the bubble. Real sensible.

People in glass houses shouldn't really throw stones.

I always find it hilarious when FF hacks accuse other parties of Auction Politics!

For the record: the Opposition parties didn't destroy the Irish economy. FF/PD/Green greed did.

And second, his pointy-shouty-outrage routine that we see at LQ's so often. It's just not him or, at least, it's not him except when he's genuinely angry and not when he's just trying to look angry. There was neither tonight, and his more understated style serves him much better.

Most of all though, my God, Sharon looks so hot tonight.
Looked a bit uncomfortable. Will Lee have any more to add as to what took place at their meeting. or was he wondering when the heave will happen

It was Noonan and Mitchell that tabled a no confidence motion in Bruton if Varadkar was to move against Kenny who would be his backer

    Can you rephrase that?

Kenny has done FG some service - however he is a builder not a leader. It is now time to hand over to a younger generation of leader who would appeal to to the 30 somethings - where better for FG to go than Leeside for Simon Coveney. And of course who better to win the Park for FG than ... of course Enda Kenny!

Are you taking the p.ss or just plainly naive? Coveney was the dolt gullible enough to support marathon asylum seeker Pamela Scamela in her attempt to stay here, even when evidence of the fraudulent documentation submitted to the court came to light and he was also the agent from FG head office who oversaw the shafting of Colm Burke in Cork. Not leadership material, not by a long shot.

coveney comes across as a dougal , very unimpressive man and politician , leo varadakarr is the man , he can help fine gael rediscover thier conservative soul , while kenny is a conservative socially , he is a centrist in every other sense of the word

Kenny has actually showed excellent judgement in this entire affair.

He apprentices "mediastar economics guru" with a few simple tests that guru fails. Kenny still values guru and offers him promotion. Guru rejects this.

Nothing more Kenny can do except breath a sigh of deep deep relief that guru gone away for ever.

Guru now on way to land of deep deep introspection on higher meaning of economic life.
I'm almost agreeing with you. This is pretty frightening.

George Lee was given a lot as a new member and TD for Fine Gael. He was impatient. I don't think it is fair to blame Enda for Lee's departure.

They damage the credibility of three or four scientists. They raise questions about the integrity of one or perhaps two out of several hundred lines of evidence."

Politics, like life, is not fair.
There are times when you are simply required to be impolite. There are times when condescension is called for!

My own opinion is that Bruton does not want to be leader.
He wants to be Minister for Finance - everything else is a distraction.
It suits him to have Kenny deal with all the other sh1t.

If he wanted to be leader of FG, he could have made his move anytime within the past 5 years.
