This is a complete PR disaster for FG. Shows they were only interested in George Lee's "star quality" as opposed to looking for someone who actually has a bit of ability.

You have to question whether Kenny can really recover in the long term from an own goal like this.

Oh god, I have to vote again!!!!!!!

What did he expect? Bruton is the top man in FG and has more credentials than a guy who simply reported on economics. I wonder if his RTE job is safe.

He should have waited to see if Enda would be pushed out, Bruton get the top job and then see if he can get Finance.

So will RTÉ have a proper Economics Editor again next week?

    Its an interesting idea.

theres been plenty of talk in the media about the need for a new party.

could george form his own and try to get like minds with him from inside and outside politics?

certainly thats a hell of an interesting prospect considering the pull he got at his election and it would explain why he resigned from the dail too as he could spin it as if he WAS to set up his own party thats not what his constituants voted for and wanted to put it to them fresh.

heh, its a fun idea anyway.

George Lee has hopefully done the country a major service today. Kenny's days must now be numbered and FG might actually have a decent leader in a few weeks time.

It should be said that FG's ability to ******************** things up should NEVER be under-estimated. It's no co-incidence that the public hasn't given them a mandate in almost 30 years.

Here's an interesting idea: Mairead McGuinness to run in Dublin South, and then go for the leadership of FG...
Unenthusiastic about any of the buggers.

Perhaps that is what he was told to get him to run?
