The triumph of ambition over duty? He's not just walking out on FG, but also on the electorate of Dublin South. I personally think his expertise will be a loss to the country, but that there is a certain arrogance and presumptiousness at expecting advancement so early in his political career.

Well, theres going to be a few in FG who fancy the job of Finance Minister, isn't there? After years of working their way up the ladder, they're not going to exactly welcome the 'prodigy' parachuted in amongst them. (and that would apply to any party, IMO).

Resigning the seat is him deciding he can't do any better either. At least if he'd remained independent he could have become a Shane Ross type figure in the Dáil. It certainly could have done with one.

What's he going to do now? Return to RTE? Emigrate?
Does that mean that RTE will have 2 economic correspondants?

She didn't quite jump to her leader's defense either...

What a twat is George? How big is this man's ego that he thought he would be writing economic policy in FG after what six months ? You have to put your time in. What an insult to his constituents. This is not good news for Fine Gael. This means White is now a shoo in for the seat in my view. George can't go back to reporting on TV. Newspapers perhaps.

He cannot do that apparantly. RTE does have a Washington vacancy though, although he has a young family.
