George says 'I was used' by FG and that he felt 'abused' on Liveline.

Yup. He says he wanted to have national effect. He's a TD, entitled to speaking time in the Dail with a huge media presence. Wouldn't his goals be better served by stepping away from FG and then spending the next 2 years appearing on every radio show opposite the financial reps of all the parties pointing flaws in their ideas and offering his own solutions? While serving the 26000 people who relied on him to represent their interests?

Here here, he built his reputation on exposing the NIB scandal but missed the biggest scandal of the last 10 years, the bloating of the banks' balance sheets.

I bet Enda and the FG party are cringing listing to George on the various radio stations, particularly on the Joe Duffy Show.

    He was clearly deluded.
Did he convince himself that his celebrity and his popularity during the by election would elevate him to the front bench of the Fine Gael party?
Had he stars in his eyes about becoming Minister for Finance and being next in line to the top job?
It seems so based on his spectacular fall.

    A total buffoon.

He has dealt great damage to the party. I think that their anger is justified.

Sounds like Lee was isolated. He's not giving us the full story but he it seems he knew where this was headed - nowhere.
