not surprised really about leaving FG but resigning his seat ?

    jaysus.

thats another by election now isnt it?

heard it on newstalk myself and everyone seems too shocked to respond. lucy on eamonn keanes show saying its the first she heard of it so george kept it fairly close to his chest.

and to think bear hours ago pat kenny was questing micheal ring why FG cant seem to do anything with lee on an item about endas recent preformances

i expect a massive backlash from the FG heads now about him being egotistical in the next few weeks but this is a massive blow to FG.

Obviously this is not at all good news for FG

Whilst I've a lot of time for Bruton & Varadkar, I thought Bruton especially lacking in energy ... there was plenty of room for Lee to help out.

    What's a bye election?

I would, the problem with the dail is all the td's in it, they are totally insulated from the real world. Most of them of all parties are me feiners.

Should have stayed independent, at least.

Resigning the seat is him deciding he can't do any better either. At least if he'd remained independent he could have become a Shane Ross type figure in the Dáil. It certainly could have done with one.

What's he going to do now? Return to RTE? Emigrate?

I'd imagine George will be on the News at One.

Major damage control by Lucinda Creighton on Newstalk saying it was telling that he was resigning from the Dail and not going Independent.
