But he's hardly been there a wet week. How quickly did he think he would need to get FG and Ireland thinking in George Lee terms? He must have some ego. He could have at least respected his electorate, signalled his concerns, made some criticisms instead of spitting the dummy.

SO clear this was going to happen as my prediction was he would be shafted by Shatter and Mitchell at next GE.

Needless to say this is a nightmare and reflects very badly on both Fine Gael and George Lee. Getting George Lee was a massive achievement for Fine Gael, so losing him so quickly is a big loss.

George Lee is also coming across as a bit of a tool and it won't do him any good in the long run. It's impossible to know what happens behind closed doors, but through talks this should have been prevented and if Lee was on the verge of doing this, something should have been sorted out i.e. a Front Bench reshuffle or something. However as I said I don't know what happened behind closed doors and if George Lee did this without talking to Enda or if they had a long fight or whatever.

If memory serves me correct he was head of the Fine Gael policy group on economic policy, so at least he was in position to impact economic policy, but then I have no idea how Fine Gael policy formation actually works behind closed doors. Although you'd imagine if he had brought something to Bruton it would have been listened to.

We'll learn more as the days pass.

He was never going to oust RB as finance spokesperson. FG will easily recover. George will too. Wish him well in his career.

Sadly, this symbolises what most people involved in Irish politics think about it. If you're not able to help every idiot with their gripes, why on earth are you in politics?!?!?!
