i fecking said it'd happen and here we see FG just CANT help ******************************g shooting themselves in the foot.

if all they said on this affair was how shocked and saddened they are and wished him well while feigning shock at georges views on em and saying "maybe we shouldve reached out to him more/ i didnt know he felt that way " this whole thing would be over and done with already.

now were facing the prospect of lee taking the gloves off and really laying into them BIG time about how things go on in that institution and dishing the REAL dirt on how he saw the big boys relating to each other on the front bench.

i havent seen a smear campaing like this since ganley came on the scene and nobody knew him from adam. if FG think THEIR hacks slagging off george lee will have more credence than the man himself putting on the sad face talking about being character assinated they know feck all about joe public

    PR ******************************g disaster.

im starting to think they WANT FF to win the next election too.
Lee behaved disgracefully on Monday in the way he resigned. He whored himself to the media from morning to night portraying himself as the little victim...

Go back an listen what he said about the job 9 months ago... doing it for jobs for South Dublin, didn't expect a defined role in Fine Gael, willing to do the work until Fine Gael get into government.. hes done a 180 and just in time to go back to cosy busom of RTE.

Many of our best politicians come up through the ranks and can spend years in the dail before they get a chance to be minister or front bench spokesman. Indeed, many can make an impact and change without ever getting into government. The independent members have actually greater power than the opposition.
Mr. Lee should have stayed in the Dail as an independent and maybe could have had a lit more influence.
It's my humble opinion that George didn't have a clue what he was getting into and could not hack it. I doubt if he had a lot of interest in constituency work and just wanted power. If he was as genuine as he says he is he would have stayed around to represent those who elected him instead of scuppering back to his cushy job in RTE.
Considering he said that he was leaving RTE so he could speak on matters he wanted to it is extraordinary that he is now putting the gag back on without not knowing what job he will be given.
Are RTE wise to take a man back who will run if he doesn't get all his own way? I certainly would not employ him knowing that he is likely to throw a tantrum and scarper if he doesn't have things all his own way.
    +1

As a constituent of South Dublin, this is exactly what I feel.

He kept repeating the mantra that he wanted to "do it now". Waiting for the next general election was not good enough for him. What the hell did he expect to do from the opposition benches?

You just need to look at Varadkar (2nd youngest TD in the Dáil) and James Reilly who were able to make such a huge impact within their first term with FG to see that the problem was not the party or Kenny but Lee himself.

That's exactly what they should have done. Wished him well. Moved on.

They'd want to be very careful now or it could spiral and destabilise Kenny's position. Which I'm sure some in FG might want...and if so they are handling it perfectly!

WTF is Enda doing now?? The story was practically dead, primarily due to bank jobs news and FG stir the pot again.
Once again, another example of painfully poor judgement by Enda.

Are FG forgetting that it was they that first approached George and trumpeted his razor sharp economic mind that would be rapidly deployed in formulating and developing FG economic policy and tearing FF's Noddy economics to shreds.

It could be all over for this country - FF will be in power after the next election, the way things are going.
Last opinion poll was blamed on Christmas, the next will be blamed on Lee, the following one on St Patricks day being sunny......

Bid deal. Lee has become a parody of himself at this stage.

What's he going to do? Start tearing strips off FG when he spent the last 9 months tearing strips off FF?

"They're all wrong and I'm right!"

when ahern resigned in disgrace can you remember ANYTHING FF said?

    no.

becuse they knew it was a toxic cluster******************** and let it die a natural death. despiet nearly ALL of em supporting him to the last

FG bolloxed up here in how they handled this whole fiasco and now theyre perpeptuating it through muppets like varadkar and hayes.

seasoned politicians who should fecking know bette !. lee isnt the story anymore, its FG incompetence and as others have posted their staggering ability to drag defeat from victory.

if it comes down to a PR battle between lee and FG everyone knows what the result will be.

why is STFU so bleeding hard for FG heads to understand ?

    whats he gonna do?

well what about some shyte stirring about who really wears the trousers in FG?

It wouldnt take alot to portray richard bruton as a sinister machevialen type pulling endas strings formulating policy the public wounld touch with a tenfoot barge poll if they knew about it , all of course in lees opinion

and thats just off the top of my head.

dont underestimate how much clout he could get now in certain media circle who want to gun for FG now he's out, he can do a hell of alot of damage if he wants to.

making this personal if ******************************g stupid. FG should just let the fecking story die while they can.

I'm not so sure. In fact, I'd say he had little or no support at the end, certainly not at grassroots level from what I could see. But the party still feigned a united front. This is politics, perception is everything, more important than reality. And while the reality may be that this is a spat between Lee and some who didn't like him, there may be a growing perception that FG are on the brink of some serious infighting.

The likes of Hayes and Varadkar aren't exactly fresh and exciting. Stale bread baked in the Dáil.

They'll keep up with this till the Sunday papers. George might end up feeling that he'll have to start telling people what really goes on in FG. The levels of poison in the attacks is really telling a tale about FG. It smacks of the party insiders and buddy boys ganging up on the outsider.
