A lot of mid to upper managment contracts have something similar to this. It's for occasions just like that when it's apparent to one or both parties that the situation isn't working, and enables them both to leave without suffering financial loss.

At least you accept that the past decades of breathtakingly bad political leadership has dragged all participants down into the same abyss.

It is a great shame that FG did not make use of such a democratic mandate and let Lee loose on FF economic policy in a way people would respond to and understand.

Lee still hasn't come up with even a shard of policy. He's the most complete bluffer politics has ever seen, as was amply demonstrated by Vincent Browne last night. He couldn't even answer the question about how much he was paid in RTE, even though he let everyone know at the time of his election that he was making a huge sacrifice by 'giving up' his €160k job (except that he wasn't). He didn't produce a single policy paper in the entire time he was in the Dail; he never contacted Richard Bruton; he never convened the Economic Forum he was chair of.

FG may have to endure a bit of heat of the next week or so, but after that Lee will dumped on the slag heap of history, where he belongs, and the world will keep on turning.

At least, this might put an end to the practice of parachutting of celebrities into Dail seats, something which FG were particularly adept at, but there's no harm in that either.

I'm bemused by the starf*ckers on here who still believe in Lee's awesomeness and think that the whole of FG's economic policy and indeed the Ministry for Finance should have just been handed over to him for ever and ever.
