The same Richard Bruton who was behind a disastrous banking plan and caught lying as to who supported it ?

    Good show.
That was one of the weakest defences of a leader I have ever seen. Leo would clearly love to see the back of Enda that much is clear. FG has always been a party with serious internal issues. It is starting to look like they have found a way of blowing the next election. It's a talent, but not one we need right now. If they are going to get rid of Enda, do it quickly and get on with creating a platform for government.

    of course it was.

It was an extraordinary method of delivery. 'I'm a powerful man, Mr Kenny. I tend to get what I want ... in the end.'

Was it yet another abuse of the licence payer's money, or was it in the public interest?

Whatever about that, it clearly didn't work ... unless, of course, there's a sequel.

I agree. It came across as completely egotistical. He is a newbie and expects to join the front bench already?
"But do 'climategate' revelations justify the sceptics’ claims that this is “the final nail in the coffin” of global warming theory? Not at all. They damage the credibility of three or four scientists. They raise questions about the integrity of one or perhaps two out of several hundred lines of evidence."

    Wow!

I had asked in this forum at the time when he got into politics what made George Lee doing so.

He may have often asked this himself meanwhile.

Anyway, he consequently withdrew now, having made experiences.

Was there something similar happening before in this country?

Have great respect for him, and it doesn't only reflect on Fine Gael, but on the state of the political system in general.

He was convincing on P. Kenny.

    George runs away.

Couldn't even complete his contract with those who elected him until next election
    (maximum of 2.5 years).

    Two staff unemployed.

By-election to be held - costing this country €?

RTE must re-employ him. Who will lose out?
George wont. His salary in RTE will be greater than his salary in the Dáil.

He sometimes has his wince moments (and there were one or two tonight) but he's straight and asks the right questions directly and clearly.

He was much less than Paxmanesque tonight, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. One of the things I don't like about VB, for example, is the way he reminds me of Paxman.

FG brought him in when the ecomomy was down selling him as someone who would in contrast to FF shape FG's economic policies. That didn't happen. I was wondering often recently what happened to him. Now I learn he was as a newbie not yet entitled to have a voice.

They sold him as the saviour at the time. Having got the seat they gained by this he was sidelined. My impression.

He drew his conclusions and quit.
