    Taoiseach Enda Kenny?

OK, I am pandering to the anti-FG brigade here, but what the hell! The only criticism that I have ever heard of Enda Kenny is that he does not have the X-Factor (apart from the hair of course). Now it would seem to me that this is because there are two types of people in this country; those who want to be led and need to look up to someone, and those who think rationally and objectively.

Even his most ardant critics recognise that Enda has done a superb job bringing FG back from the abyss. But any praise is usually stopped with the words "Ah but he doesn't have the X-Factor..." or some such nonsense. These folks invariably feel the need to look up, have some kind of huge inferiority complex and if they were British would be fawning all over the Royal family. Ironically they will all claim to be proud Irish and get this knickers in a twist at any civilities shown to the Royals, such as Bruton's toast to Prince Charles. Nonetheless they feel the need to fawn over something and in the absence of a royal family, they shout demented messages of support. Just look at the gombeens who support Haughey and Ahern and shout "Good man yerself, sure you're one of us",ignorant of just how scewed they have been...similar to peasantry supporting the royals.

On the other hand there are those who look at ability and results. A few years ago I hired a college graduate with exceptional results but not real experience in our field - best hire of my life. Enda is a bit like this guy- little direct experience in the area, but the signs are good. In the areas he has been outstanding.

So my theory is that folks are moving away from an hysterical need to follow, to being far more rational in their voting choices. This is why Enda will be Taoiseach.

I'd say he'll be Taoiseach because FF have been in power since 1997 and the economy is in tatters. But I do think he will be Taoiseach.
If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.

This X factor tripe is becoming boring! What X factor means is shyte television done on a smallish budget to get the biggest return. It does not produce "STARS". Look at the music scene and try to understand how long established groups like the Beatles, Stones, AC/DC got where they were without these idiotic mind numbing shows!

Can we name just three current major acts that sprang from any of the variousthe X Factor type shows.

I believe what the poster on the other thread meant is that EK does not have the glitz to become Taoiseach. He is a splendid election agent I must admit but Taoiseach is another story.

Reality is that Bertie the Bassman had the glitz as did the tough ballad singing guy on the back of that truck. That's what the people want.

Kenny just aint got what it takes, he is a running joke.
FG need to take the bull by the horns and make the hard decision NOW because
with Kenny at the helm they cannot be taken seriously.
Those contrived fake smirks will be played in years to come a la Paraic Flynn`s comments. Up Mayo!

You're making my point exactly for me. There are folks like you who see politics as an X-Factor Competition and cut and paste a youtube skit to prove her point.

Then there are folks who view things seriously, have a look at where FF have gotten us, have a look at what Enda has done and say to hell with you tube skits, funny and all as they are, we need to take things more seriously.

..as opposed to Bertie or Cowen?

FF'ers suffer aform of stockholm syndrome.
Anyone who doesnt lay them down and ram it up their ass while whispering sweet nothings in their ears is not good enough.
Its years of conditioning from the Brits, through to the Church to FF.

They are conditioned to slavery and service and can countenance nothing else. This in turn absolves them of all responsibility.

The sympathetic hostage, the victim, is their role; They can never change.

    Accurate if somewhat crude assessment.

I genuinely believe that anyone who votes FF is incapable of independent thought. They are consensus driven, irrespective of what moral obligations lay around them.

On the other hand FG voters don'ttolerate BS. One FF recently (and rather proudly) proclaimed that if Lowry had been in FF he'd never have been kicked out. He was rather proudof that fact.

Enda's ability is unquestioned, hence the constant references to ethereal things such as X-factor..or as one FF woman (a former work colleague) used to say "Well you just wouldn't want to sleep with him". After that remark I thought it best not to come back with "What about Biffo?" There is only so much a man can hear without a stiff drink in front of him.

But I think folks are now seeing the need to be serious, especially after what FF have done.

Indeed....I guess you want all talk ofEnda being Taoiseach to be censored!

Well I suppose if you've lost the "He doesn;'t have the x-factor" debate then censorship is your only solution kiddo.

I explained the X factor to you but you don't seem to understand! That is the sort of stuff "de peepel" want. When they get it they do regret it but then it's too late. Next time aroud the memory has faded and they want another X factor.

Now idealism is great but it take a lot of that to fill a pint.
