    Next FF leader

If Bert loses the election, who will succeed him as leader? Could he continue as leader if he loses the election, provided he puts in a creditable performance in terms of increasing the party's vote/seats, or would he have to go? If he goes who should/would succeed him?

    What a complete no brainer.

Unlikely that he would want to stay on in that context. There really isn't that much talent to take over from him and to be honest I think FF could well see quite a big fall if someone else took over.

I don't anticipate FF being thrown out of govt. Constituency polls show that talk of a FG recovery is wildly exaggerated. I anticipate they may pick up a few seats perhaps 1 seat in Mayo (though far from certain). But if there is a recovery in Dublin it is very patchy and not reflected in DSE for example. However, after Bertie goes - in whatever circumstance - I would like one of the following to succeed him:

    A: Mary Hanafin
    B: Dermot Ahern
    C: Brian Lenihan

Mary Hanafin? Hardly a leader, in fairness...
Dermot Ahern? Not a bad choice...
Brian Lenihan? Never heard of him... who's he then?

Trickey Mickey, the hopeless loser who couldn't even be bothered to read his ministerial briefs?
