    Election 2012

I was out for a few drinks with a few colleagues from the local Cumann last night and we where discussing the Fianna Fál strategy for the 2012 Election.

It's nearly a given that we will be back on our feet with the Economy by 2011 so our poll ratings should be a bit better than now and people will be grateful for the corrective measures that the current FF government have made, after all its a global downturn.

Brian Cowen will probably not fight the next election as leader.

Brian Lenihan and M Martin would be excellent choices as leader and Taoiseach but we could pull a trump card out our our pocket and run with a female leader to push us over the line to get back into power and to keep Fine Gael and Labour out and possibly Sinn Fein.

I think Mary Hanifin could would make a very good leader and become the first female Taoiseach!

    She has good pedigree
    Experinced
    Charismatic
    Good Looking
    Intelligent

    and she is a women.

What do other FF supporters think?
It is indeed hard for the strong to be just to the weak, but acting justly always has its rewards.

Living in cloud cuckoo land. No way the government will last that long. Paddy Power has it 5/2 for this year for a GE

Hanafin is not leader material, she comes across in the media as an overbearing school principle, competent Minister but she would need big makeover to be Taoiseach material. I think Martin is the man the opposition would fear.

It's a complete waste of time to speculate about election 2012 - if it happens!

Were you still out on the booze when you wrote this ?
I think Mary Hanifin is an over promoted school dinner lady :

She has experience doing what exactly ?

She has good pedigree she may look like a prize goat but pedigree ?????????

I have seen more charismatic librarians

What have her looks got to do with anything is this the legendary FF sexism coming through ?

I have seen nothing to prove she has the intelligence level above a single celled organism.

Well if Paddy Power says that, it must be true!

Re: Hannafin, she's not charismatic. She basically reflects the FF party line in every television appearance, she doesn't seem to have any independent thought on anything. Couglin's damaged at the moment as well.

It might be another generation before FF sees a female leader.

    Current FF strategy

Blow rapidly into a paper bag pause and say "we are safe till 2012"
Repeat process until you actually believe it.

You and your delusional pals keep thinking no one can lay a glove on FF till 2012, suits me fine. It just means you will be in even bigger disarray (if possible) when the call comes much earlier.

Usually like to steer clear of anything personal but Mary Hanafin "Good looking"
    You serious?

Lenihan's a spoofer, Martin is a brainless ditherer, and Hanafin is a scary right-wing Jesus freak. We'll still be deep in recession by 2011, in fact everything this Government is doing is just making the problem worse and storing up megabillions in debt for the next two generations to repay.

It's long past time to eradicate the freaks, loons and crooks of Fianna Fáil from Irish life forever.

Just not sure how constructive this type of statement is when we've heard this repeated sooo many times. It's also unrelated to the topic as well.

Is there any FF female backbenchers worthy of being a leader btw?
