Could Ryan defeat see the end of FF "Liberals" move

It is commonly known that Eoin Ryan was most open to a FF move into the ALDE (ELDR) group of the European Parliment. By contrast, Brian Crowley has been openly hostile to the move, while Pat The Cope Gallagher has faced scathing criticism from his North-West electorate in the wake of the proposed move.

Could this defeat see the end of such a move, with Crowley now capable of wielding more power ? Remember in 2004 talks were at a similarly advanced stage, but feel apart. FF are anxious to get exemptions from voting with the group on almost the entire social policy of the organisation, CAP, and some economic measure. This has acted as a source of worry for many of the ELDR memebers, and the move has already been criticised by the ELDR's youth wing.

Without it's chief proponant, is the move a dead duck ?

Well the UEN (as far as I know) have fallen into a state of even greater insignificance, and may not have the numbers to establish as a group. So if FF opt out of the ALDE, they will be forced to sit as Independents - consigning them to absolute irrelevance in the EP

Is that commonly known? I'd no particular awareness that the man had any views at all on anything.

Is the focus of the ALDE (ELDR) group of the European Parliment on Jobs And Investment In Dublin?

Obviously the EP has been deprived of a great visionary. Truly, we never knew what had dwelt among us until it was too late.
However, banks know they have a duty of care to their clients and I'm sure that this should prevent them lending irresponsibly.

Was that just a passing remark when you used the word "man" or do you have firm evidence that he is a human being, rather than an extra-terrestrial organism.

I think people make too much about EU parties.

Look they are a loose coalition of parties with varying views. There are parties in the EPP and PES for example which are anti lisbon, does that make FG/Lab anti liston too? No of course it doesnt.

These groupings have no whips and MEPs can vote as they wish.

That is not true. The whip is weaker then it is in Ireland, but it does exist, and I know for a fact it exists in the ELDR.

Yes the whip system normally is just for individual political parties, for example the British labour party MEPS will have a whip as will the PSOE in Spain have their own whip.
