    Blow to Micheál Martin

I just heard from my friends in Cork that there's a chance that MM will fail to get both brothers elected. Seán, a former lord mayor, on just 9% has the best chance.

If he does fail, is it a fatal blow to his chances of being leader and hand it to Dermot Aherne?

I've never for a moment seen MM as party leader. Nor Dermot Ahern to be honest. The safe bet would have been Lenihan before Cowen sent him to Calvary as Minister for Finance.

Care to expand on that gnomic statement?

Great news if true. Nothing worse than watching this sleeven mumble into his shoulder. Seeing him do as leader of a major party (for the moment ) would be too much.

Any gombeen among them can be a leader! They are done for and people seem to have copped on to the gombeenism. No matter who the would take on a leader they are ruined.

Another FF family bites the dust hopefully. Speaking of D Ahern he was an ungracious plank on the radio this morning about George Lee, unlike his colleague Mary Hanafin who at least has manners. Sarcasm is funny when combined with wit, otherwise it just sounds bitter and sour. A bit like Cowen, actually.
