I heard the interview on Newstalk.

His kind offer was motivated by a question on incineration in Cork Harbour.

Through a bizarre association of ideas, his answer meandered through "moving forward with teknolgie", to reminiscing fondly on his travels in northern Europe, all the way to his farm in north Cork.

He also claimed FG caused the 1980's recession and, if I heard right, that FF had run the country since 1926.

His grip on reality is clearly loosening.

Did he actually say that about his farm and a nuclear reactor or is this a wind-up?

European election candidate Deputy Ned O’Keeffe TD, who is well known for his maverick opinions, offered his farm (which he claims is not worth a lot) as a site for a nuclear reactor while speaking on a radio show this week.

“France and Britain have nuclear fuel and we have to be competitive and move forward. In fact, I’ve a farm that’s worth very little at the moment so it’s available to use,” the Mitchelstown TD told listeners of the Matt Cooper show on Today FM last Monday.

If you read the article, Adrian, it says:

I hope the voters of North Cork/South Tipperary/West Waterford/East Limerick bear this statement in mind when deciding who to vote for.

It isn't a comedy site like the onion, is it by any chance?

No, this isnt a wind up. There was already a thread on this topic, here.
I heard that interview on Today FM. It was almost funny to listen to, but shocking at the same time. Its no wonder the country is in the mess its in, when people like O'Keefe can actually get elected to the Dáil.
