…..was my Jason Byrne-style reaction when I saw Fianna Fáil's latest desperate attempt to save Eoin Ryan from electoral oblivion over the weekend. He has lots of message posters saying "I'm for jobs", and soforth.

To me it looks glaringly obvious that the photo of Ryan is the one he used on his 2004 election poster, and the "hands" holding the messages are photoshoped in. (Also, the posters are bright blue. Surprise surprise.) Did anyone else notice how blatant the hands are?!

This is not a forum for lessons on Photoshop. I can assure you that there might be very valid technical reasons but if you have to ask that question you would not understand the answer!

I've coded the odd JPG and know about SVG and other vector-based graphics and which applications handle them and raster-based pretty well.

But examining pictures of Eoin Ryan ...

Some of the photoshopping on posters is mad all the same... Down here, Sen Alan Kelly is on 8 by 4 posters with all the local candidates, and you get the exact same cheesy grin from Alan, while you have a variety of different type expressions from the candidates. It's obvious that they were nowhere near each other when the pictures were taken

The ones of him with Eamon Gilmore are the worst (i.e. most obviously done apart)

One of Eoin Ryan's new posters unwisely uses the word "JOBS" all on its own on the bottom line of the slogan. "Fighting for jobs" or something equally inspirational. Now if someone was to be mischevous, they might blot out the last letter (tippex or pritt-sticked white paper would do the trick) and write in the word "my" before the last word.
