A Sunday Independent analysis of all 42 Dail constituencies reveals that if an election were called tomorrow Fianna Fail would suffer a similar fate to that experienced by Fine Gael under Michael Noonan in 2002. If the party's poll rating of 21 per cent is not reversed, the best Fianna Fail can expect in a general election is a maximum of 43 seats.

The loss of 35 seats from its 2007 result also means the party would secure its lowest ever seat total in a national election.

All that remains now is for someone to table a no confidence vote in the Dáil or some other circumstance to force a GE. The article is interesting in who will not survive a GE.

I'm slightly disappointed that the poll shows that in DLR the worthless incompetent FFer to loose a seat is the Bould Monageer Hero Barry, he of the blacked out conclusions to mask his own incompetence, and not his Teacher, Mary. She of the not-rat-infested-prefabs-while-she-was-in-charge.

Unfortunately that is the case. But it could come soon if the Greens realise they are the new PDs and face extinction in the same way should they continue in this farce.


The hit list of those who could expect a P45 is interesting, especially the dynasties (who, let's face it, fully deserve it.) I particularly found it interesting that the article mentioned voth Pat Carey and Noel Ahern as among those to go. This is Dublin North-West where FF have their strongest level of support in the capital.

But since their support in Dublin is vanishing like snow in July, it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. But if both Carey and Ahern were to lose their seats in any GE soon, then FF are finished because it means that FF face wipe-out in Dublin. I somehow don't think things are that bad.

The country has cleary shifted from the moderate right in FF to the right in FG.
I thought this would be the worst nightmare for you people.

If, and it is a big if, FG can sort out the Public sector pay bill, scrap the HSE and make the Health service run efficiently andcut out corruption and croneyism in public office then I do not care if they are Left or Right. Ireland needs fixing.

The problem for the left is that they advocate public spending as the answer to just about everything and the voters know that public spending is our problem.

So FG is just about the only realistic choice.

You have it backways, when F.G get into power, S.F.will be at the races in a big way even
with 7 TD they will be on top of ministers every time the open their mouths, S.F. have been
waiting to get at F.G.for a long time, Great times ahead for S.F.

Dont listen to amybody who talks about seat projections.

It is one thing to talk about level of national support but that does tell how what each party will end up with in terms of seats. There are so many variables in who transfers to who etc so i would be skeptical about FF loosing 35 seats.
