Personal pressure on Cowen and Lenahan

I know that they are making a hash of things but does anyone have any sympathy for the taoiseach and finance minister on a personal level? Do people think that when they go home at night that they switch off or are they constantly worried about what they are doing and the consequences for our country. The alternative is that they believe that they are totally right and have no worries. Surely these guys are human too and must be under awful pressure. They must be doing their best even if their policies have holes all over them. This would apply to Kenny and Gilmore as well , they must wonder too if they should support FF and the country or try to swap places. How many of our politicans are in it for themselves and who is in it for the good of the country.

Cowen & Lenihan don't know what pressure is.

Pressure is when your parents have no health card, your partner comes home early saying he/she has been made unemployed and when you have no money to pay for your childrens shoes.

Their bank accounts will ensure that they feel no pressure, unlike the rest of the country. I don't think they know much of what goes on in the real world outside the Dail Bar

No sympathy whatsoever. They should quit.

their liking for the bottle and massive bank accounts assuage all guilt.

good point . I suppose I was wondering if they actually worried about these thing personally or just saw them as part of the political game. The have to have a heart or are they living in a different world where it is a game rather than real people's lives.

I would say there is pressure on them. Barack Obama said it best, leading a country is like being on American Idol except everybody is Simon Cowell.

Being a Taoiseach or a minister is a job which everybody can do better than you and who most people think you doing the job badly.

There is pressure not like the pressure of somebody loosing a job but in just dealing with the countrys problems must be some strain on them.

The are under huge pressure - no doubt about it. Do they deserve sympathy? No. They can always quit.
