McDaid to vote against budget if it is not 'severe enough': TV3

I kid you not. Jim McDaid was just interviewed by Ursala Halligan on TV3 saying that he will vote against the budget if it is not 'severe enough'. Jim seems to have a bit of a death wish! Who needs Silius when you have Jim McDaid getting your back!!

He seemed to be articulating an impatience among FF Parliamentary Party members and the mixed signals that the government have been sending out. One to watch..........

He won't be standing again after this and I believe the whip has lost control of him so what has he to loose by being honest with the people?

He always was something of a loose cannon

    TBH I think he's waffling

Maybe he's looking for something and just reminding Biffo he hasn't retired quite yet....

Will the govt benches be giving a standing ovation this time I wonder?!

Regarding McDaids statement I'm beginning to think we'll get a 1982 scenario, with FF acting all tough guy, and losing the vote so FG can take the flak for the next few years.

Actually the good Dr is playing a good game here

There are some FF backbenchers who are followers of Woolly Gilmore's Dun Laoghaire school of Spoofonomics. They're going to play the same ultimatum game & threaten to vote against the budget if cuts are high ... so McDaid is aiming to take this factor out of play.

Hang on Cybill, so McDaid is trying to play his side, against another side, against the government's side? Meanwhile the opposition haven't a clue?
