Two in Sligo both running Independant.

Michael Clarke and a Cummins fella whose first name has just escaped me. He was former mayor in Sligo.

The problem I have is that at the Ard Fheis a motion to abolish the interview selection process was carried unamously and then a referral was put in. Since then theres been no contact to any members or any word on the issue.

It's clear that Cumman delegates want their vote back and we've lost a lot of our own support because of this.
Bad mistake by the party and it better be reversed soon.

I think there are 3 in Longford
In the Ballymahon area John Nolan and Mark Casey and former Councillor Brian Lynch in the Granard area
None of the 3 have much chance of getting elected and they will probably only further weaken FF cause in their former Longford stronghold
Changed times indeed from the dizzy heights that FF had in the days of Albert Reynolds

Tommy is his name and it appears that he is rather sore about the FF selection process. He has resigned from FF and intends to bring half his cumann with him.

FF resignations expected - News, frontpage - Sligochampion.ie

Currently, the only ones who have resigned are unhappy with the FF selection process. Just wait until after the April budget when we'll have the ones who will feel that the FF label will be a liability rather than an advantage in getting elected.

Yes Tommy. He's bringing up on 12 members from a Cumman of 26 almost leaving it inactive. A more interesting question would be, of the people not selected, how many are NOT running Independant??

Massive split in Dingle/Daingean Ui Chuis FF. John Hanifan left FF after over 30 years and running for Labour. New young candidate hasn't got much of an established profile. Second FF seat in real danger

If FF wants in the medium term to return to popularity in the 40s-50% then it need to become democratic again. This PD right wing thing has caused huge damage. just because Haughey et al were personally weak does not mean that the political drive behind them was wrong.
Traditional FF voters have been very badly failed by elected representatives. The tradition of service has died and it is unlikely FF will by the party to return this to the public. Many public figures are simply selfish self serving traitors.

    Harsh, but true...
