    No problem with thread merger.

In earlier posting it was stated his brother, John, was going to run for his council seat, has this actually been declared, does the brother also work in the hotel, surely his views are the same, he should be fupped out as well, guilty by association.

The Kerry people should take this opportunity to destroy this "family seat" lark, from earlier posting would seem they mainly employ non-nationals to save money or enrich themselves.

    Is this hotel tax-compliant.

The motion sought to confer town centre status on the lands, which are around a mile from the centre of Killarney and are on the urban/rural divide.

Mr O'Donoghue attended the Council meeting, declared his interests, didn't take part in the debate on the motion and abstained when it was voted on.

The motion was passed by a majority of councillors, even though it was vigorously opposed by Council management.

However, the Standards in Public Office Commission subsequently conducted an investigation and said it was satisfied that Mr O'Donoghue had breached ethics by seeking the support of councillors on the re-zoning motion.
RTÉ News: Killarney mayor pleads guilty to ethics breach

Standard practice in the council is that FF/FG/Lab(all great pals in the council) all vote together. What happened here? O'Donoghue attends meeting, tells pals at meeting he has a particular interest in the motion and so should not vote himself, but then all his pals vote in favour of the motion. Business as usual..... It has to stop!

I'd reckon Jackie Healy Rae is another one to look at down there in Kerry South. Quite a few of his main donors for the last general election had been involved in planning decisions made by the council around the same time. Not saying that makes him a crook, but I know he'd be on my list if i worked in the Standards in Public Office. (though most of FF would prob be on the list!)

Can the Council not now force him to resign and ensure he is not allowed run ever again and the brother needs to be interviewed to ensure he is fit and proper to run.

What should we call it? Genocide?

    good luck Tim Coffey
What are you on about "sons and daughters not getting planning permission on their own land" do you mean he's a Healy Rae hybrid?

The crime: corruption, with an estimated payoff of €20 million. Admitted guilt.

The penalty: €5 grand. And a short ban from public office for an unelectable.

We should be proud of our banana republic where Dermo Ahern introduces legislation that criminalises everyone (when our jails are full to overflowing) while FFers can do anything from this to the NAMA scam and get away with it.
