Bertie at UCD

"MARTIN WALL, Industry CorrespondentFORMER TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern has strongly defended his record in office and rejected criticisms that his administrations had “blown the boom”.

Speaking at an industrial relations conference in UCD yesterday, organised by the specialist publication Industrial Relations News, Mr Ahern also expressed support for the social partnership process which, he said, had been one of the foundation stones of the country’s economic progress over recent years.

The former taoiseach also forecast that it could be Easter of next year before any light appeared at the end of the tunnel in relation to the current economic situation. He said the country should “batten down the hatches for the next 12 months”.

He said it was in nobody’s interest to return to an era of strikes and industrial relations unrest.

In a 40-minute address to industrial relations and human resources specialists, Mr Ahern said that while social partnership was not a magic wand to solve every problem, it had an excellent track record as a way of delivering real progress and minimising conflict in this country.

Whats happening with the students at UCD, the King of the Scobies is allowed to come into their midst and say anything he likes to his favourite group of people, fawning industrial relations types.
Bertie is banging on how great he was with his revisionist ideas, he will soon offer Biffo his services on a comeback deal, probably after Cheltenham.
Why does Biffo tolerate him or is he waiting for the Mahon Report findings to batten down the lid on Bertie's coffin.
The students in Galway got stuck into Bertie and you would have thought UCD would also kick his ass, did Bertie manage to keep his appearance quite until he left the building and scampered back to DNS, siging on for his pension at the Dail on the way back.

Is this the first time he's actually had to address the claim that "we blew the boom"? That, in some small way, is progress.

Yeah "let them eat cake " Bertie.Did anybody tell this chimp that who ever cause the false boom is responsible for the real depression.Ahern caused it,and has put generations of people in debt with his hee-haw buy property ,keep the coffers flowing until I leave with my big pension.
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

So Bertie Ahern has finally gotten around to attending UCD ? Fair play to him !

Irish Independent ,August 2005, The CV fibbers who play the lying game

That same month the Taoiseach was quoted in a new book, My Best Advice, as saying: "I obtained my accountancy qualification (in the College of Commerce, Rathmines) and later completed further diploma courses through the London School of Economics in taxation and business administration."
Sharp-eyed observers noted that the Taoiseach failed to make any mention in the book of his time at UCD. When a spokesman for Mr Ahern was asked to explain the omission, he said: "He has never claimed to hold degrees from UCD or anywhere else. I don't know what he got (after Rathmines College). He remembers doing the courses, but not what they were."
Attempts by reporters to trace Mr Ahern's attendance record at UCD or the London School of Economics proved unsuccessful. The reference on the Fianna Fail website to his studies at the LSE was subsequently deleted.
See this article also where UCD deny any record of him.

It says a lot for the pampered brats of South Dublin that they couldn't even launch a "friendly meeting party" for this walking talking disgrace.

Hate to say it, but Fees would sharpen their minds a bit. When I was in UCD in the early 90's our lecturers used to give out to us for not being politically engaged. I remember one lecturer threatening to deduct marches if we did not skip his lecture to take part in a protest in town over cutbacks... "If I see you on campus.....etc."

That said, in my day the SU was full of depraved, amoral FFers, many of whom are now either on TV or in the dail or serving as County councilors.....

Looks like a damage limitation exercise, him appearing "in public" to a loaded audience.
The SOB should be smoked out of his hole wherever he´s in hiding.
I´dlike to see a Prime Time investigates on the missing Bertie. He has a lot of explaining to do to Sean & Sheila Citizen.
