Why the delay in producing THE PLAN for the economy?

ICTU have 10 steps:
Full Listing » Publications & Resources » Congress - Irish Congress of Trade Unions

Fine Gael had on last October (not sure if it has been updated since)
http://www.finegael.ie/news/document...ctive%2008.pdf

Labour are talking about it.

Morgan Kelly outlines the need for one, now, if not soooner.
http://www.politics.ie/economy/46201...gan-kelly.html

Even the Dept of Finance have predicted the need for €16bn cuts.
http://www.politics.ie/economy/40762...t-finance.html

So what is the delay from Fianna Fail?

At the very least we need public service cuts (waste and unneccesaries), social welfare savings (fraud detection, reviews, cutting programmes and cutting rates), and Tax increase (property, carbon, broader income). We could also do with a real plan to free enterprise from red tape, cut their energy, employment (PRSI) and local authority costs as well as a positive system of grants, incentives, tax breaks to stimulate markets (and not the property one).

So why the delay?

1) Cowen has no balls.
2) Cowen is "asleep at the wheel" and is not very approachable at either morning time or late afternoon.
3) He is waiting for the Ard Fheis.
4) He is hoping the Social Partners will come round.
5) His backbenchers have told him not to.
6) The Greens are holding him back from radical cuts.
7) The Dept of Finance has insufficient expertise.
8) He is holding out for a long-term deal with Labour.
9) The Fine Gael and Labour pincer movment has left hime no room to move.
or
10) All of the above?

Stop wallowing and get on with it.

They are hand-cuffed by those who finance the party's coffers. Its as simple as that.

Its DENIAL and abject FEAR that is preventing the government from taking the necessary steps.

Just as we are pathetic at law enforcement, we are even worse at planning anything.

Now "planning corruption", we are brilliant at that.

Its simple really, in order to get out of the mess some of the "Friends of Fianna Fail" must pay. These "Friends of Fianna Fail" have some serious dirt on FF and will spill the beans.

FF is only interested in protecting its friends and has zero interest in the country or its future.

You may be right but it (the delay) is becoming increasingly bizarre.

If there is a master plan then by God it will need to be good.

FF in destroying the hopes of 100's of thousands in this country will at least have destroyed itself.

Cowen's last and greatest accomplishment.
Mr Gormley described calls for the resignation of his cabinet colleague as "absolute nonsense". He said Mr Lenihan was doing "a very good job under exceptionally difficult circumstances".

Well, leftfemme, as a doctor you have to treat the sick regardless of background. Some of the sickest people in Irish society support and vote for FF. As a professional medic, you are obliged to treat them, however distasteful you may find the notion.
