Typical distortion from your good self. Whatever mandate that this Government was elected on has long since gone out the window. Their entire manifesto and programme is now completely irrelevant and unobtainable. Practically EVERY government important policy impemented since last July had NO electoral mandate whatsoever, and was, in fact, the kind of policies that FF warned against should they be kicked out of Government in 2007!

Is this the kind of strong mandate you think they should continue with for the next three years?

The only two things that are stopping an election are:

    1) Cowen. If FF are thrown out of Government, his career is over.
    2) The Greens. Likely to be decimated in an election. Gormley is arguably their 2nd most vulnerable TD. His credibility is so low right now, he couldn't get arrested in this town any more. If he loses, his career is probably over as well.

Oh, and as a raving drunk who could well have murdered several innocent people by driving down the wrong side of the M7, McDaid's calls are not all that credible.

I guess that people IN government and people that GOVERN are two very different things.

As for reducing numbers of special needs teachers, while that is a shame for some who genuinely need them, I happen to be related to a little boy who is about to loose his. His only complaint is that he is not engaging socially with his classmates. For being a loner, he gets a special needs teacher who, by the very title she has, has to accompany this boy to the bathroom! Oh, but there has to be two just to make sure one isn't doing something they shouldn't be while he's in there!

Seriously...................and we wonder what happened to all the money.

Ah yes! Special needs assistants........that's what all the countless billions were wasted on!

I would like to apologise to the relevant people for EVER thinking that the following were responsible for the missing cash:

    - FF incompetence and profligacy of Ministers
    - Creation of various slush-funds for the abuse of public money and its dispersal to FF cronies in trade unions and quangos (like Celia at the NCA)
    - The systematic theft of taxpayers money by the banks, developers etc.
    - A litany of tax-scams by scum developers and friends of FF

To all the angelic developers, bankers and government ministers who may have been offended - I apologise to you all! It was those special-needs baastards all along!

I think they should because I want rid of them but it would be a political mistake. It would look like they were running away from the problem.

Their only hope is to govern in the right way without regard to electoral consequences and hope they are lucky enough to catch an international upturn. They would have a chance then of avoiding a wipeout.

Do we want an election, or do we want to leave FF stew in the mess they created?

I wasnt sure how to vote when i saw this poll firstly we are in a terrible way at the moment, how is a three week campaign with all the parties focusing on winning seats going to help the country?
On the other side, FF are saying "well we should all work together to get ourselves out of this mess", its a matter of leadership now and everyday FF seem to be making a bigger hash of it and maybe this country needs Richard Bruton now

If we look at the longer term good of the country, leaving FF in for now is best. The party needs to be destroyed completely for what it has done this time. Another 6 months of bad news will surely focus the minds of the 20% or so that thing this shower are not a very highly organised scamming operation.

Not until after the Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill has passed. We need the controls on immigration contained therein to be passed so that Labour can't impede them beforehand in govt.
